Christmas Pom Pom Pals

I made a group of 24 Christmas cards using
Papertrey Ink's Pom Pom Pals.
There are three images in the set, so I decided
to create 8 cards for each design!!
I was able to use a production line assembly technique,
which simplified the process,
but it still took me quite some time
to colour and stitch the various elements.

Pom Pom Pals

I used the following supplies for all of the cards.
(PTI, unless noted)
Stamps:
Pom Pom Pals, Rustic Wreath (sentiment)
Inks:
Memento Tuxedo Black; Versafine OnyxBlack
Paper:
Stamper's Select White
Dies:
Stitched Circles, Stitched Rectangles,
Stitched With Love (circle mat)
Other:
Stitching Impression Plate; copic markers;
embroidery floss; Glossy Accents

REINDEER
Pure Poppy card stock

LAYERS

CARD INTERIOR
Stars
Scene It: Celebration stamps; Bright Buttercup ink
Stitching Line
Sew Simple Borders Mini Stamps; Pure Poppy ink

TAG
I had a leftover stamped image of
the snowman, so I used it to make a tag.

Hawaiian Shores, Pinefeather, Limeade Ice inks
were stamped onto Tag Sale #4 with a
confetti stamp (Birthday Style) and finished
with a turquoise Baker's Twine.

Papertrey Ink November 2015 Blog Hop

 Blog-hop-logo
I'm finally getting organized enough that I can participate in
this month's  Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink.
After we returned from my son's wedding in October,
I spent time working on lots of projects around the house
and let my crafting and blogging slide!
This month's photo inspiration gave me the incentive
to try a few ideas for Christmas cards and tags.

Blog Hop Inspiration

I tried a variety of techniques, stamps and dies to create 3 projects:

Shaker Tree Ornament:
I liked all of the baubles in the inspiration photo, so I thought
I would create a decoration using the Shaker Ornament Set of dies.
I didn't have any "Simply Chartreuse" sequins in my stash, so I
used a different green along with teal and silver star and circle sequins.
I smooshed Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal inks onto an
acrylic block and then added water before applying it to
the white die cut ornament.
I dipped the die cut into Versamark and then added
Clear Sparkle embossing powder.
The sentiment (Rustic Wreath) the tip and upper hanger
of the ornament were embossed with silver EP
Originally I was going to use this on a card, but decided to finish off
the back and use it as a real Christmas Tree Ornament. I stamped the
backing with Hawaiian Shores and Polka Dot Basics.
The Oval Frame (Framed Out #8) was created using the same smooshing technique; stamped with a star (Framed Out #7) and Tropical Teal ink
and then heat embossed with the same sparkle EP as I used on the front.
The sentiment is from Rustic Wreath and the date from Tinsel and Tags.

Tag
My second project did not come together the way I wanted it to.
The tag image (Tinsel and Tags) was embossed with silver EP
but it wasn't as clear as I had hoped. I die cut and stamped
the house to add to the top of the circle image.
I added a Tropical Teal Doily (Doily Details)
and  tag (Tag Sale #4) stamped with Simply Chartreuse,
Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal confetti (Birthday Style).

This was my least favourite project,
but I thought I would include it,
since it gave me some ideas for my card.
Since I had all of my supplies out from
Tinsel and Tags Kit, I made one final project.

Card:
This was my third project and the one that I like the best.

Ink and Paper:
Simply Chartreuse, Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores
Additional Inks:
 Soft Stone, Kraft
Stamps and Dies:
Tinsel and Tags Kit; Square Shaker - Confetti Die;
Other Supplies:
Stamper's Select White Card Stock; Striped Impression Plate;
copic marker; Silver Glitter Gel pen

Thanks for staying with me until the end!! Enjoy the rest of the Blog Hop!!

Floral Gift Tag

When I purchased a gift for my brother and sister-in-law's
anniversary the store packaged it in this pretty Gift Bag:
a Kraft background with lime green flowers and
white accents. I love the fresh look of this colour scheme!!

It didn't come with a gift tag so I
made one using my "collection" of craft supplies.

I started by die cutting Tag Sale #3 from Kraft card stock.
The large flower (Rosie Posie) was stamped with Limeade Ice
onto white card stock and then fussy cut!!
A copic marker to was used to create shading on the petals.

The center of the flower (Simple Sunflower) was made
using a circle of Kraft card stock, stamped with VersaMark,
then heat embossed with white embossing powder.
The flower was attached to the tag before adding the final details.

The sentiment (Swoosh) and dots (Harvest Berries) were also
heat embossed with white embossing powder and the
little bow (Tinsel and Tags Kit) was stamped with Dark Chocolate ink.

Delightful Dahlia - Mistified!!

The first thing I wanted to try with my new MISTI
(Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented)
was the multi-step flowers from Delightful Dahlia stamp set.
I've never been able to line these images up - until now!!
And because it was so awesome, I decided to make a card set
using a design by Nichole Heady ((from this post)

All together I stamped 12 large and 12 small flowers -
each with the three step stamps!!
I think I was making up for lost time with this set!!

PINK FLOWERS:
Inks: Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst & Sweet Blush inks.
White adhesive pearls accent the flower centers.
Leaves: Fine Linen ink.
(full strength and stamped off once to create a shadow effect.)
Sentiments: Dark Chocolate ink.
Card bases: Hibiscus Burst .
All white panels were impressed with the Canvas Impression Plate.

 Sentiment: Mum's the Word

Sentiment:  Mini Blooms

Sentiment: Delightful Dahlias Additions
The inside of the cards were lined with white
card stock and stamped with the small dahlia.
Here's a sample of one of the card interiors:

Sentiment: Big Birthday Wishes

 GOLD FLOWERS
 Inks: Summer Sunrise (full strength);
Summer Sunrise (stamped off once) and Harvest Gold.
Card bases: Harvest Gold
All other details are the same as the pink set above.
Sentiment:  Mum's the Word

Sentiment: Mini Blooms

 Sentiment: Delightful Dahlias Additions

Sentiment: Delightful Dahlias

I decided to give this set of cards to my future daughter-in-law when we visited with them earlier this month. I created a little gift box and tag to co-ordinate with the set.

The box was created with one piece of Hibiscus Burst card stock
and some trial and error!! I wished I had made note of the measurements so I could refer to them if I wanted to make this again, but I was in a hurry to finish this before we left on our trip. All six cards and envelopes fit nicely into the box.

A Tag Sale #8 was used to create the tag
and a white ribbon and bow are the finishing touches.

I stamped the outline image from the original Delightful Dahlias
onto a piece of white card stock (cut with the 2nd die from Tag Sale #8)
with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, so I could colour with copics.
The leaves (Sending You) were added with Spring Moss ink.
The sentiments (Just For You) are stamped with Dark Chocolate ink.
I used the Linen Impression Plate to create some interest and
then added this panel to patterned paper tag.

Wow! This was a long post!!
Thanks for joining me today.

Papertrey Ink: Tag & Bag Challenge

This is my third project for the 8th Anniversary Celebrations at Papertrey Ink. Each day PTI fans are given a chance to win fabulous prizes, by entering various challenges. You can see the third challenge outlined on Nichole Heady`s blog.
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef01b8d0d047a1970c-pi
Day 3 Challenge:
This challenge focuses on tags and packaging for gift giving.
I often like to sew or knit gifts for my wee grand nephews and nieces.
I have 8 grand nieces in my family, so I'm always looking for ideas for little girls. With that in mind, I used  a pink and white colour scheme and Stitched with Love stamps and dies to create this tag to go along with a pink striped gift bag.
A striped Hibiscus Burst Bag is accented with the handmade tag
and a white grosgrain ribbon.

The main circle panel was stamped with Hibiscus Burst several times
(using my new MISTI), but the ink seems to have bled
into the sentiment "just for you".
I'm wondering if I could use a white gel pen to highlight these words.
I'll have to experiment!!

I added the top white panel to a circle notecard cut using
Limitless Layers 2 1/2" circle die.
Two holes were punched at the fold into order to thread
a piece of crochet cotton through.

Supplies (PTI unless noted)
Stamps - Stitched With Love
Inks - Dark Chocolate, Hibiscus Burst, Lemon Tart, Simply Chartruese; Versafine Onyx Black
Paper - Stamper`s Select White, Hibiscus Burst; Hibicus Burst Striped Patterned Paper
Dies - Stitched With Love Die Collection, Limitless Layers: 2 1/2" Circle Die
Other -White crochet cotton; white grosgrain ribbon' small circle punch

Shaker Shapes: Trees

I loved how Maille Belles used the Shaker Shapes: Tree die and Sparkle and Shine Additions stamps to create a flat card (non-shaker) so I made a set of 4 for my holiday mailing list. Her card is shown.

After making four cards, I used the 'leftover' trees to make 4 tags.
My Cards & Tags
CARDS
I CASED Maille's  design, but added a few stamped stars to the trees.

The little string of lights is adorable, so I added them onto the trees using Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Spring Rain and New Leaf inks.

On My Desk: Just For You Tag

I have a little box on my desk that collects extra die cuts, and stamped images that don't make it onto a card. I've challenged myself to use these items instead of continually starting from 'scratch".  You can find another project (journalling cards) in this series here.

This "tag" started out as a card front. I made a few mistakes while I was stamping a background panel (Dot Spot), so it landed in the box "on my desk"

I cut the stamped panel into a tag so I was able to avoid the bloopers!! The sentiment circle (Just For You) and the butterfly die cut (Heart-2-Heart #10) were ready to use from my stash, with only a few additions. These were layered onto the tag and I was quickly done!!
I still have lots of bits and bobs on my desk, so I'm sure I'll be making more scrap inspired projects. It feels good to clean out these scraps and have a  completed project at the same time!!

PTI Supplies (unless noted)
Stamps - Heart-2-Heart #10, Just For You, Dot Spot
Inks - Limeade Ice, Hibiscus Burst, Tropical Teal;  Tempting Turquoise (SU);  Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers - Vintage Cream,
Dies - Tag Sale #5, Heart-2-Heart #10;
Other - 1 3/4" Circle Punch

Nuts for You Birthday Tag & Card

I made a card and tag for my husband's birthday in October, using a variety of stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink.

* I used the Cover Plate: Circles for the lower portion of the card front!
(I love playing with a combination of colours and patterns for the circles)
* The top of the card was covered with Spring Moss polka dot paper.

* The sentiment panel was created with stamps and dies from Framed Out #1.
I mounted the panel onto a bitty dot Spring Moss patterned paper and popped the center panel with 3D foam dots.
* A strip of ribbon and a double bow separates the two sections of the card and accents the top of the sentiment panel.

The inside of the card is a fun scene using Nuts for You and Falling Leaves. (I wanted something unexpected on the inside!!) We have a lot of squirrels that visit our trees and my husband always has something to say to them!! (They try to get into our bird feeders and often make a real racket when birds fly into the tree!!)
* I used a combination of colouring and paper piecing for the squirrel. The body was stamped with Background Basics: Herringbone and the face and tummy with Bitty Background Blocks. The tail was coloured with copic markers.
* The acorn die cut was stamped with Dark Chocolate onto Kraft card stock.
The tree and leaves were stamped with images from Falling Leaves.
* Movers & Shakers Sentiments were stamped onto the top of the card and a sentiment from Nuts For You was added to the bottom corner of the card.

Card Details (PTI, unless noted)
Stamps - Nuts For You, Happy Hexagons, Framed Out #1, Movers & Shakers Sentiments,
Bitty Background Blocks, Background Basics: Herringbone, Falling Leaves

Paper - Stamper's Select White, Spring Moss Polka Dot Patterned Paper, Dark Chocolate, Kraft
Dies - Cover Plate: Circles, Nuts For You, Framed Out #1
Other - American Crafts: Coffee Ribbon, copic markers, corner rounder, 3D Foam Dots

Tag:
This tag was attached to a bag of cashews!

* Boutique Accessory Card die - cut from white card stock and Spring Moss Polka Dot Patterned Paper.
* I stamped and paper pieced another squirrel and attached it to the tag.
* The leaves were die cut from Canyon Clay cardstock, impressed with the Herringbone Impression Plate and then added to the top corner of the tag.
* Two acorns were die cut from Kraft card stock, stamped with Dark Chocolate ink and then highlighted with a copic marker. Both of the acorns were popped up with 3D foam dots.
* The sentiment was stamped with Dark Chocolate ink.

30th Birthday

My youngest son celebrated his 30th birthday this week.
I can't believe that both my "kids" are in their 30's!! How does that happen??

Ian learned to surf when he was living in Halifax and now that he has moved back to Vancouver, he's continued to find some 'waves' on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I made a clean and simple card for him using Just Surfing (Stampin' Up) and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink: (Stylish Sentiments: Birthday).

Harvest  Gold + Summer Sunrise + Canyon Clay Surfboards

I found a Surfing Sticker in my craft room and wanted to incorporate it into a card. Framed Out #12 stamps/die were the perfect size to highlight Porky Pig!! The main sentiment and frame were stamped with Autumn Terracotta (Close To My Heart) and the small birthday sentiment was stamped with New Leaf ink.

Stamps - Stylish Sentiments: Birthdays;  Just Surfing (Stampin' Up);
