Giftts for Baby

My son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first baby 

at the end of November, so I've been busy making a 

variety of things for the new baby. 

Today I'm sharing a Baby Shower card and envelope, 

using a variety of stamps and dies.

I cut a white rectangle using 

Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangles and 

then repeatedly stamped it with 

a heart (Sweet Baby) using 

Sweet Blush, Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst 

and Raspberry Fizz, to create an ombre look.

I cut another rectangle and stamped it with 

Vintage Jadeite using Background Basics: Gingham, 

securing this piece at the bottom of the card front.

Flower Power (C.C.Designs) was stamped 

with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured 

with copic markers. The focal panel was 

matted with Lovely Lady card stock. 

The sentiment ( ) was stamped with 

Vintage Jadeite onto white card stock 

and also mounted onto a pink mat, 

then dimensional foam tape.

  

BABY (Polka Dot Parade Alphabet) was added. 

Several letters together to create dimension. 

Stamping Bella pink dots accent the card front.

Another white rectangle was die cut for the interior of the card. A row of hearts was stamped across the bottom and the sentiment (Hanging Out) was added.

The envelope front was stamped with the 

same sentiments as the card front and then the

teddy bear from Polka Dot Parade #4 was added.

Wee Folk: Welcome Baby

Time to welcome a new baby girl to our family!! 

My niece had her second daughter this spring so I chose 

Wee Folk stamp, paper and dies to create this card, 

inspired by a this design from Amy Sheffer.

 The deer and butterfy images were cut from the 

pre-printed design in the Wee Folk Kit.

 The circle scalloped background (Tinsel & Tags Kit)  was 

cut from Hibiscus Burst card stock. Scene It:Skyscapes 

dies were used to cut the background circle in white;

the sun rays in Harvest Gold and the hill in 

green Bo Bunny paper.

The leafy sprigs were die cut and stamped; 

additional colour was added with a green copic marker.

Die cut and stamped flowers complete the focal image.

Additional details include: 

a strip of Bo Bunny Double Dot paper, 

a vellum notched tag with white heat embossed sentiment 

and a white double ended banner with the Welcome sentiment.

Lemon Tart patterned was cut with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangles.

I used sentiments (Stylish Sentiments: Birthday) 

and tulips and hearts to finish the interior design.

Papertrey Ink March 2015 Blop Hop & MIM #206

I'm slowly getting back into my craft room after a fun vacation.
I'm looking forward to playing with my paper and ink!!

I loved this month's inspiration photo for 
Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop: Aqua and Yellow ... 

... but I was also intrigued  by Danielle Flander's  

Make It Monday video: Stamping  and Mixing Patterns ....

so I combined the two challenges to make a baby card!!

I started by cutting the Cover Plate: Comic Strip die 

from Aqua Mist and Stamper's Select White card stock.

The aqua frame was glued to a white card base.

Using the tips and techniques from this week's MIM, 

several stamp sets and ink colours were chosen to 

stamp patterns onto the 5 white card stock pieces.
I used Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart inks, with an accent 
of Spring Moss on the Polka Dot panel.

SAF: #3: Rolled Dough Designs

 

This challenge involved using a unique product called 'paper clay' that air dries after being rolled out into a flat sheet. Several different techniques for using this product were highlighted in these videos on Nichole Heady's blog.
I used a combination of techniques for my projects. Erin Lincoln showed us how to use re-inkers to custom colour the white clay and Danielle Flanders used her clay to die cut buttons - so sweet!!

I knew that I wanted to make flowers with the dried sheets, so I coloured 3 small pieces of the clay with the re-inkers. I only have a few, so I used:
1. Simply Chartreuse (it actually looked more like Limeade Ice)
2. Harvest Gold (good match)
3. Harvest Gold combined with Pure Poppy (fairly close to Berry Sorbet)

I let the clay dry for 36 hours ( I made them on Friday night and didn't use them until Sunday afternoon), and didn't have any problems die cutting the shapes I wanted to use on my project - several flowers, leaves and a little heart accent (seen on the card below).

I used one of the card sketches from the earlier "Bake and Take" 

Challenge and it made this card go together very quickly.

Baby Girl Shower Gifts

     My nephew and his girlfriend are expecting their first baby in late August. While they were visiting in early July we had a family gathering/baby shower for them. I had lots of fun making a card, tags and a baby banner with my stamps and paper. I also made a fabric bag to hold one of the gifts, but it will make a perfect little tote bag for the new mama as well!!

The largest gift really needed something extra special, so I made a 'baby girl' banner with pinks and light purple card stock. I purchased little fabric butterflies from the Dollar Store and used them at each of the corners. I also left extra ribbon  at each end so it could be used in the baby's room as a decoration.

This was the first banner I've ever made, so I experimented with various techniques!! It has lots of dry embossing, stamping and die cuts, but unfortunately you can't see that clearly in the above picture. I used Limitless Layers 1 3/4" Circles and Modern Alphabet Lower Case dies (Papertrey Ink), layered on top of Spellbinders Nested Pennants. The daisies were cut with a EK Success Border Punch.

Card  
I stamped the card front with Background Basics: Tin Types using Lemon 
Tart ink, then embossed the card front (Stamper's Select White -PTI) with an embossing folder (Elegant Bouquet - Stampin' Up) to create some interest.

Each of the flowers and leaves were coloured with copic markers, before adding the sentiment (Hanging Out - PTI) and the focal panel. (C.C.Designs Itzie Inkies Flower Power). Some green patterned paper (from my stash) and 4 mini pearls were added to the main panel. I used the end of a ticket (Just the Ticket Border Die) to stamp the word ADORABLE from Tiny Tags II and then attached it behind the top of the focal panel.

The envelope was also decorated with 'BABY'  (Polka Dot Alphabet - Close To My Heart) and 'For your ... Girl' ( Baby Words: Stampendous) and the butterfly from Sweet Spring (PTI).

Butterfly Tag
I cut Tag Sale #4 die with Soft Moss card stock and then stamped  'sweet baby GIRL' (Sweet Spring & Sweet Baby) three times around the outer edge with Winter Wisteria ink. Three daisies were added to the top and accented with Dot Sparkles. The butterfly (Butterfly Dreams) was cut twice - one pink card stock and one vellum. The vellum  was stamped with Hibiscus Burst ink and then attached along the `body`to create a dimensional look.

Fabric Bag & & Tag
I had this precious fabric in my stash and it was perfect for a gift bag. I love all the images (butterflies, frogs, castles, hearts, princes and princess) and words included on the fabric. Bright pink fabric was used for the handles and the trim around the upper band. 

I added a big yellow button to the front of the bag - 

it was the perfect place to attach this gift tag:

Inspired by SAF: Homemade Embellishments

 Papertrey Ink held a "Stamp-a-Faire Summer Camp" event on July 21st, 

highlighting many techniques, videos and tutorials and encouraging 
crafters to enter cards and projects for each of the challenges. Even 
though I had planned to participate, I just didn't get anything finished 
in time for  the challenge deadlines!! I have been highlighting lots
of projects this week - all inspired by the Stamp-a-Faire videos and 
techniques. Thanks for joining me as I shared these projects with you.

Many of the Papertrey Ink design team members contributed to the Homemade Embellishments Challenge.  Heather Nichols created fun little felt badges that could be used on cards, tags and scrapbook layouts and this video inspired me to dig into my felt and embroidery floss stash. I chose red and green felt and Fine Linen Bitty Dot Pattern papers to create 6 badges that could be used in a Christmas album or on Christmas tags. Sweet Baby Emily

When my niece had a baby girl in August I made one card for the baby, to attach to her gift and a second card for the parents. Emily is their second child, so I addressed the card to the whole family, along with a gift - a frame engraved with the word 'family' - just perfect for their first family portrait. 

 I used Sweet Baby stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink for this card:

* The front panel was impressed with Simple Stripes Impression plate and then mounted onto a card base of Stamper's Select White using 3-D foam dots. 

* The giraffe was die cut, stamped in Harvest Gold with the corresponding image and then added to the card front with foam dimensionals. A narrow pink ribbon was attached to the neck and a pink felt heart was added. (Love Lives Here die) 

* A small black pearl was used for the eye.

* The sentiment panel was created with Perfect Patches die collection. 

* Pink ribbon was laced through the openings of the white rectangle in order to frame the sentiment (Hanging Out) stamped with Grey Wool (Close To My Heart).  

* A Stamping Bella pink adhesive dot gives a little sparkle to this panel and then mounted onto the Harvest Gold card stock.

Hanging Out (for Emily)

One of my nieces gave birth to her second child in August - a sweet little girl named Emily Charlotte. One of my favourite baby cards to make uses Papertrey Ink's set called Hanging Out. I've made several versions of this card - blue for boys, pink for girls. (You can view the other cards here.)  

Sometimes I have used patterned paper for the mat layer, but this time I kept it very simple with a plain pink card stock. The larger white mat layer has been impressed with the Simple Stripes Impression Plate for a little bit of texture.

This card was included in a gift for Emily, so I addressed the card to her!!

I created a complementary scene for the envelope, but this time I used her name in punched circles and attached them to the clothesline. The sunshine stamp is from Back Pocket Basics and the sentiment and butterflies (Sweet Spring) add some colour and whimsy to this envelope:

Baby Girl: Hanging Out!!

One of my son's friends just had a little baby girl last month and I wanted
to make a card using Hanging Out. I used the same layout as this one, 
that I made for a friend's baby boy. All that was needed was some
changes in colour, paper and patterns.

I started by making my own patterned paper with Background Basics: Medallion, Blush and Spring Moss inks. This colour scheme was repeated in the clothes hanging from the clothes line. To create a pattern on the dress, I used the floral stamp from Bitty Background Basics.

The family owns a little white, black and brown Jack Russell terrier, so I added the dog from Tiny Treats: Valentine. It was stamped, coloured and fussy cut and then added to the card panel. The grass and flowers are both from the Garden Variety stamp set.

The inside of the card was stamped with the sentiment from the Hanging Out set and the little girl is an image from Quilter's Sampler. I repeated the medallion images as a border along the bottom of the white panel.

Baby Boy Welcome

The owner of my local scrap booking store had a little baby boy at the end of October. PTI's Hanging Out was the perfect choice for a baby card.

I stamped the grass and clothesline on white card stock and then added the die cuts for the clothes. The bib and socks were cut from white card stock and then stamped with SU's Bashful Blue ink. The onsie was die cut from a gingham paper and then outlined with faux stitching using a black marker. The tiny clothespins were stamped in Moonstruck (deep blue) and then hand cut and attached to the clothes. The same ink was used to stamp the sentiment. The edge of the white card stock and the 'sky' was sponged with more of the lighter blue ink.

I felt that the card needed some colour, so I used the smallest dot from Polka Dot Basics and added little dots amongst the grass with blue, yellow and rust coloured inks. The bottom left side was still looking empty, so I stamped, coloured and hand cut the dog from Tiny Treats: Valentine. It was just the right finishing detail.  The focal panel was mounted onto a blue mat and a dotted blue patterned paper and then layered onto the blue card base.

Card Interior

I used another sentiment from the Hanging Out set and a small square image from Quilter's Sampler Addition to accent the inside of the card. After sponging the edges with more of the blue ink, I added some polka dots (in two sizes) to all of the corners.

Sewing Projects for Baby Parker

     One of my neices had her second daughter last week - here are some of the sewing projects that I completed for sweet baby Parker, using one of the fabrics  I purchased on a recent trip to Duluth. This single knit fabric has lots of bright colours and little 'zoo' animals - lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras and cats.

A cute little dress for this summer....

Two matching bibs that have been backed with some soft, thick terry towel....

Here's the same fabric used to trim a hooded bath towel - a soft pink
terry towel was chosen, but the bright trim adds a punch of colour.
