Lea's Birthday Card

I really liked Betsy Veldman's SAF 2014 Kit: 1940's
when it was first introduced. I finally used this
set to make a card for my daughter-in-law.
 One of  Betsy's cards
was my inspiration for this birthday card.
Betsy's card was a lesson in combining stamps to
create a patterned card. I used similar images
from the set but varied the colours:
Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy, Lemon Tart, and Aqua Mist.

The sentiment banner was stamped and then
fussy cut so it could be attached over the central image.
The rest of the sentiment was stamped directly onto
the card front panel. The sweet flowers were die cut
and stamped using Quilted: Summer.

Card Inside
I wanted to bring some of the card front elements
to the inside of the card, so the frame and a few
of the flowers were added with the
Pure Poppy sentiment (Framed Out #1) as the focal point!

A Few Extras:
Since my son and daughter-in-law live out of town,
I needed to keep her gift simple and easy to mail.
I made two gift card envelopes using
Hawaiian Shores card stock and Seed Packet die.
Sparkle and Shine stamps were added to the
Button Card die with a gift card inside.

Lea loves tea from David's Tea, so I got her a gift card from
that location and added a belly band to indicate the contents!!
Tea for Two stamps and dies; flowers from the SAF 1940's Kit
and hearts from Love Lives Here: Holiday complete the look!

Ahoy Birthday

I've been absent from my blog, but still have so
many cards and projects to share from the last 8 months!!
Here's a card I made for my son's birthday last fall
using Ahoy stamps and dies. I started by creating a mask on
white card stock so I could sponge Spring Rain ink
to create a circle background for the main images
on the card front. Before removing the mask,
I stamped the wave images using Blueberry Sky ink.
The sailboat was die cut and then stamped with
Pure Poppy and Kraft inks.  The die cut rope and anchor
were stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed
with Silver Embossing powder.

The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
The birds were stamped with Close To My Heart: Grey Wool ink.
The card front was attached to a bright blue card base from my stash.

Card Inside
An additional piece of white card stock was applied
to the inside of the card base. The sentiment
was stamped with black ink and the waves
with Moonstruck Blue (Close To My Heart)
and Spring Rain inks.

Thanks for visiting today.

Quilted:Summer Birthday

I love all of the Quilted Stamp sets and dies from
Papertrey Ink. There's so many colour combinations
and fun patterns that can be created.
For this birthday card, I started by creating
a water coloured front panel using
Limeade Ice and Berry Sorbet on water colour paper.
The square frame (Quilted:Summer) was cut from
Berry Sorbet card stock and the various
'triangular patches' from white card stock.
These 'patches' were stamped with
Berry Sorbet, Limeade Ice and Lemon Tart inks.
A small pinwheel from the set was die cut and stamped
and then added with foam tape to the center of the
quilt block. A Candy Dot accents the center of the pinwheel.
Before adding the sentiment, I used two lines of
stitching from Moments Inked: Edge die to create
a space for the sentiment (Get Lost).
Three coloured Candy Dots (Stampin' Up) were
placed on either side of the sentiment.
The card base was stamped with Background Basics: Gingham.
