Textured Stars

This is my third post using the Stars Cover Plate.
You can see other star birthday cards here and here.
I've seen so many cards using texture paste and a stencil, so I wanted to give it a try. I purchased Martha Stewart's White Effect Texture Paste from Michael's.
I started by creating a stencil with the Star Cover Plate and tinted the paste with various re-inkers.
after die cutting
You can see how much the coloured paste bled around the stars and the grainy appearance of Martha Stewart's White Effect Texture Paste. It certainly didn't perform as I was expecting!!  Once dried I used the cover plate to cut out the stars, since I knew I wasn't going to be able to use it as is. The above photo shows a portion of the cover plate that was photographed after die cutting and removing the textured stars.
After die cutting I had three groups of stars: 9 blue, 10 turquoise, 10 green.

Blue Birthday Wishes

The  sentiment (Polka Dot Parade #12) was stamped with Blueberry Sky ink. The front card panel was impressed with the Linen Impression Plate. I then positioned the blue textured stars around the sentiment. Various sizes of stars were stamped with Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy and New Leaf inks.

I felt that the sentiment needed some colour, so I die cut four letters from Polka Dot Parade die collection and stamped them with Day-By-Day Blocks Mini using Pure Poppy ink and then positioned them so the blue lettering below creates a shadow effect.

Green and Turquoise Birthday Wishes

I used a combination of turquoise and green stars to complete this birthday card. I die cut "birthday" from white card stock, positioning it on the diagonal. I used a distressing tool to ink the word with Tempting Turquoise (SU) and Limeade Ice. The white card front was attached to a Tempting Turquoise card base and then the word was inlaid into the card front. The textured stars were glued to the front. The sentiment was selectively inked from two separate stamps. (Fillable Frames #7) and a small starburst stamp (Framed Out #7) was added around the sentiment.

A large star (It's Official) and smaller stars (Monthly Moments: July)

Awesome cards! I love how you used the distressing tool to add two different colors of ink to "birthday". I am going to have to try that.
