30th Birthday

My youngest son celebrated his 30th birthday this week.
I can't believe that both my "kids" are in their 30's!! How does that happen??

Ian learned to surf when he was living in Halifax and now that he has moved back to Vancouver, he's continued to find some 'waves' on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I made a clean and simple card for him using Just Surfing (Stampin' Up) and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink: (Stylish Sentiments: Birthday).

Harvest  Gold + Summer Sunrise + Canyon Clay Surfboards

I found a Surfing Sticker in my craft room and wanted to incorporate it into a card. Framed Out #12 stamps/die were the perfect size to highlight Porky Pig!! The main sentiment and frame were stamped with Autumn Terracotta (Close To My Heart) and the small birthday sentiment was stamped with New Leaf ink.

Stamps - Stylish Sentiments: Birthdays;  Just Surfing (Stampin' Up);

I made a tag to add to the birthday gift.

Golden Wreath: PTI September 2013 Challenge

Blog-hop-logo
It's time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge.
My blog has been very quiet recently - I had eye surgery 2 weeks ago
and everything seems to take a little longer to do!! This is the first card
I've posted since the surgery - I'm so glad to be back creating again!!

September-Blog-Hop

My cousins are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in October and I knew that I wanted to use Birds and Blooms for a card, so when the September Challenge at Papertrey Ink was using wreaths in a project, this seemed like a perfect time for this card.

I am also linking this to All That Glitters is Gold Challenge  in the Moxie Fab World, since my wreath was created using gold embossing powder.

When I'm making a card for anniversary or wedding cards I always like to use details that appeal to both the husband and wife, so on this card I used the Woodgrain Impression Plate and the blue birds to give an outdoorsy/rustic touch. The flowers give a little more feminine look to the card. The wreath, flowers and birds were die cut with the corresponding Birds and Blooms Die Collection.

I wanted to include "50" on the card front, but didn't want it to overpower the wreath, birds and sentiment. After die cutting the heart tag from Tiny Tags I stamped it with Sweet Blush ink and a polka dot block from Bitty Background Blocks. The numbers (Mini Scrapbooking Series) were embossed with gold, then the tag was added to the white and gold bow.

A border was created on the inside of the card, with leaves (Fine Linen) and flowers from Birds and Blooms. The sentiment, from Everyday Photo Finishers was stamped with Autumn Rose.

Happy Holidays

I thought I would try my hand at another holiday card, using this one that
I made for Festive Friday: Trees  as my inspiration. I used many of the same elements, but bumped it up a notch by mounting a die cut tree onto a tag, with a  Scarlet Jewel mat and a burgundy satin ribbon. It's a little thicker than
my earlier card, so it may be one that I will hand deliver this Christmas!!

The gold embossed tree (Believe) was mounted onto Tag Sale #3 which had been impressed with the Woodgrain Impression Plate. I then created a mat from Scarlet Jewel so the focal panel would really 'pop' against the card base (also impressed with Woodgrain IP). The sentiment (Holiday Lights) was stamped with Vineyard Berry. A simple knotted ribbon was added to the tag.

The inside was finished with another sentiment from
Holiday Lights and the gift packages from Believe
These were highlighted with a gold gel pen and copic markers.

Card Details: (PTI, unless noted)
Stamps - Believe, Holiday Lights
Inks - Versamark; Memento: Tuxedo Black; Close To My Heart: Vineyard Berry
