Daydreamer Birthday

This card was inspired by Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #60 using
Generational Stamping. You can see the technique video here. Although I always plan to enter these challenges, I just never seem to get something done within the time frame. That was the case with this challenge too!!

I started my card on the weekend thinking that I would get it finished and photographed before the deadline on Sunday (April 8th) But ... it didn't happen.

I was determined to finish it anyways, even though the next challenge had already been posted!!  So .... without further rambling, here's my card!!

Now you might wonder why this took so long to make?
It actually started as a full card front of flowers from the Daydreamer Stamp set, but I made a "faux pas"  right in the middle of the panel. The flowers and stems were stamped with Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold and Spring Moss, using a combination of 1st and 2nd generation stamping. I decided that I needed to salvage the stamping that I had done, so I trimmed a portion of the stamped card stock and used it as a starting point.

It took me a while to figure out what to do with that little snippet of stamping, and it sat on my desk for the rest of Sunday. When I woke up on Monday, I pulled out some other stamps and supplies and finished it ... inside and out!!

I layered the sentiment stamps from Daydreamer using the 2nd generation of Aqua Mist ink. The one main word DREAM in the upper right hand corner was done with the 1st generation of ink, so that it stands out. The butterflies, (Butterfly Dreams) were added with the lighter tone of Berry Sorbet.

I mounted the panel on a piece of Berry Sorbet card stock and then used the Linen Impression Plate to add some texture. I tried adding this to a textured white card front, but it just seemed too plain to me, so I experimented with a few options., and ultimately decided on the Aqua Mist doily. (Doily Details die) The main card base is also Berry Sorbet. A few little white pearls finish the look.

The inside of the card uses the same stamps, but this time I used 1st generation inks for the sentiments and the butterfly border. The white panel has also been impressed with the Linen IP.

Card Details     (Papertrey Ink Supplies, unless noted)
Stamps - Daydreamer, Butterfly Dreams
Inks - Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss, Harvest Gold, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo
Papers - Stamper's Select White, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist

Thanks for visiting today.

Since making this card, I decided to give it to my niece for her birthday. It will be hand delivered so I thought I would add some "decorative" details to the envelope:

Stamps:
Postmarks, Butterfly Dreams, Background Basics: Postmarks

Here's a close up of one side of the envelope.
I stamped Background Basic: Postmarks with
Versamark and then heat embossed with clear
embossing powder to add some detail to the
floral images.

Hi Karen! I *love* the bright colors you chose for your card, and the way the pearls and linen texture plate soften things up! By the way, you got a terrific impression with that plate--I'm impressed! (Pun intended) :-) Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog--it's so good to be back!

What a great save! This card must have always meant to be like this. The rectangular focal point is beautiful. The butterflies work a treat here too. Just magic!

OMG, Karen, your card is just gorgeous! I loved it as soon as I laid eyes on it. I love the colors you used, the stamping and the impression on the background cardstock! Awesome creation! (oh and I didn't note on my card that I also started out as a full card front but messed up on the stamping - generational stamping not so easy, LOL)

Love what you've done with this card, Karen - and who would have thought it was a 'rescue' job! Love the colours you chose - perfect for spring :)

Beautiful card. I love how it turned out. You did a great job with both the stamping & rescue. Love the colors of the flowers.
I too never seem to make the deadline for the MIM challenges. However the MIM are one of my favorite parts of PTI besides their products.
