Make It Monday #21 - Polaroid 2 Step Masking

It's a beautiful, hot and sunny day here, but I really wanted to play along with the most recent Make It Monday Challenge from Papertrey Ink, so I took some time in my craft room this morning.

When I saw  this  card from Nichole Heady during the June release stamps, it took my breathe away. And.... then she made another similar one for the challenge. You can find the video and instructions here.

I have several family celebrations to attend this summer, so I decided to make an anniversary card for one of my nieces and her husband.  I used the new Papertrey Ink 2010 Anniversary set: Botanical Silhouettes for my main stamping image. Green, orange and pink were used to stamp the leaves and flowers onto Kraft card stock and PTI's Fresh Snow was used to sponge the white frame around the image. The sentiment, from Tag-Its #5, was stamped on the bottom corner of the frame.

The little butterfly was added to the top corner for some balance. I stamped an image from Butterfly Dreams with Versamark, onto a piece of pink cardstock. I then heat embossed with gold embossing powder, before cutting it out. The wings of the butterfly were folded and then the thin body of the butterfly was glued to the corner of the prepared frame.

The larger Kraft card stock panel was stamped with PTI's Background Basics: Tin Types using the same green ink. Fresh Snow was also sponged around the edges. Rustic Jute was wrapped around the card stock and then a green button was added to one side. The main focal panel was added with foam dimensionals.
A bright green card base was used to complement the green inks that were used throughout the card.

I just love this technique and all the possibilities. I know it's something that I'm going to try again and again!! Thanks for the inspiration, Nichole!!

Card Details:
Stamps: PTI Botanical Silhouettes, Butterfly Dreams, Background Basics: Tin Types, Tag-Its #5
Inks: Close to My Heart: Clover Meadow, Orange; SU: Pixie Pink; PTI: Fresh Snow; Versamark
Paper: Recollections: Kraft, Green; pink from my scrap bin
Other Supplies: PTI Rustic Jute; Stampendous Gold Detail Embossing powder; green button; foam dimensionals

Hope everyone has a great week.
An early Happy July 4th goes out to my southern neighbours, too.
We had our July 1st 'fireworks' on Friday, so it's back to business for us tomorrow!!

Take Care.
