Make it Monday #5: Distressed Edges

                    I have always loved
               St. Patrick's Day - March 17th.

As a young girl I would wear something green on the 17th and proudly announce that I was 1/4  Irish!! My mother's father was Irish, which I  believed made me Irish too!!
My husband and I were finally able to visit Ireland 4 years ago - loved every part of that trip - from the Dingle Peninsula to Belfast to Dublin to Cobh and every place in between!!

Here's my tribute to St. Patrick's Day with a little bit of "distressing" for this week's  Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday.

Last week's MIM challenge involved using fun foam and since I still had a small fun foam square sitting on my desk, I decided to use this card design again,  but added some distressing to the card base and matting panels for this week's challenge.

I stamped three little squares using the textured fun foam square. I then stamped and coloured the St. Patrick's Day Hat (from High Hopes Stamps) with my copic markers, cutting them out and adhering them to the square panels.  I added some sparkle to the buckle with a gold metallic pen, and highlighted the centers of the cloverleaf with a clear Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
A white ribbon was coloured with copic markers to create the green and orange stripes. (colours from the Irish flag).

The sentiment (PTI's Mega Mixed Messages) was stamped in the lower right corner and highlighted with small gold metallic beads.
The white panel was distressed with a green ink pad. The card base was distressed using sandpaper. The paper has a white core, so sanding the edges really allowed this to show.

Love that special colored ribbon! Yes, St. Patty's day is the day when all of us '1/4 Irish' can be proud too :)

Karen, those textured squares still look great! I love how you colored the ribbon--I'll have to try it! Did you enter this in Ted's Happily Ever Challenged?

P.S. So jealous that you got to go to Ireland! :-)
